In July, EXO's D.O. found himself at the center of a smoking fine controversy. While in the indoor waiting room of MBC's Music Core during group activities for Cream Soda, a video surfaced showing him using an electronic cigarette. This raised complaints from concerned individuals who promptly reported the incident to the Mapo Public Health Centre.

According to South Korea's National Health Promotion Act, smoking in a non-smoking area can result in fines of up to 100,000 KRW (approximately 85 USD).

The Mapo Public Health Centre, in response to the incident, released an official statement. D.O. and his agency contended that he had used an electronic cigarette without nicotine. However, a fine was imposed as there was no concrete evidence to prove the absence of nicotine in the device. The smoking incident occurred within the non-smoking areas of the broadcasting station, necessitating the fine. Authorities emphasized that, as a public figure, D.O. has promised to comply with the law in the future.

Amid this controversy, EXO's D.O. is gearing up for a highly anticipated solo comeback. On September 8, he will pre-release the single "I Do" at 6 PM KST (2:30 PM IST), with the second mini-album titled "Expectations" set to drop on September 18th. "I Do" is a captivating acoustic pop song that beautifully showcases D.O.'s unique vocals and exquisite lyricism, adding to the excitement surrounding the new mini-album. "Expectations" comprises seven songs that capture D.O.'s delicate artistry, a preview of which can be heard in the pre-release track "I Do." Starting September 11th, the agency plans to build anticipation for the comeback by releasing concept teasers, a highlight medley of the album, and teasers for the title song's music video.

D.O.'s solo debut in July 2021 with the album "Empathy" was a resounding success. He secured wins on music shows and achieved chart-topping feats worldwide, including reaching the iTunes Top Album Chart in sixty countries and regions. D.O., also known as Doh Kyung Soo, continues to excel in various fields, including music, acting, and entertainment. In addition to his musical achievements, he contributed to EXO's seventh full-length album "EXIST," released in July. Moreover, he demonstrated his acting prowess in the space-themed film "The Moon," which premiered on September 2.

As fans eagerly await his solo comeback, the smoking fine controversy has brought new attention to D.O.'s multi-faceted career.
